ABOUT
US

Heat Clanfield is a local community project organised by a group of volunteers, all long standing Clanfield residents.

We are motivated by the need reduce the carbon footprint of the village. This matters firstly because burning fossil fuels like heating oil generates CO2 which is causing climate change. Energy prices are unpredictable, and supplies are vulnerable to world events putting us all at risk, especially people on low incomes. Domestic oil more than doubled from 60 pence per litre to 134 pence per litre at the latest outbreak of war in the Middle East.

Community owned solar electricity exported to the grid generates income. Any trading surpluses will be spent exclusively on benefits for Clanfield residents.

OUR AIMS

01

Develop community-owned solar electricity installations in the Parish of Clanfield that create financial returns for the Clanfield community.

02

Work with the Clanfield community to identify and financially support projects that benefit the community.

03

Help provide trusted information, practical support and funded services to accelerate adoption of rooftop solar PV, heat pumps, and energy efficiency upgrades in Clanfield properties.

04

Look out for technology advances and energy market developments that make more low carbon solutions viable, like hydro or wind generated electricity, or heat networks.

Electricity price chart

According to Ofgem if you are on a standard variable tariff (default tariff) and pay for your electricity by Direct Debit, you will pay on average 24.67 pence per kilowatt hour (kWh).

We believe sitting back and doing nothing is not an option.

With the help of a central government grant Heat Clanfield has commissioned low carbon energy consultants Scene Connect to carry out a feasibility study into what technologies could work for us, be economically viable, and environmentally friendly.
