LOCAL, DISTRICT, COUNTY AND NATIONAL GOVERNMENT

We have had whole-hearted support from all levels of government.

Clanfield Parish Council have allowed us to look at the potential of Council land for renewable energy use.

West Oxfordshire District Council and Oxfordshire County Council continue to encourage, advise and champion our efforts.

Our local MP, Charlie Maynard, is actively supporting the cause of community energy projects like ours.

ONE PLANET CLANFIELD

OPC started us thinking how to become a low carbon community, and have encouraged us ever since. Generous donations have also helped keep us running.

CO-OPERATIVES UK AND
CO-OPERATIVE FUTURES

Co-operatives UK and Co-operative Futures helped clear a path through the many possible legal incorporation options to our eventual decision to become a Community Benefit Society. This is a legal structure that is completely and permanently focussed on benefitting our community, no other person and no other organisation. They have also given us invaluable support in registering with the Financial Conduct Authority and guiding us in how to manage a CBS.

POWER FOR PEOPLE

Power for People, a not-for-profit organisation that is having success at changing government policy to to see the UK rapidly transition to 100% clean energy and for this to benefit local communities. A reformed energy market could see Clanfield able to generate renewable electricity, earn higher profits from selling it, and even supply individual customers in the community, neither of which is possible now.

GREATER SOUTH EAST NET ZERO HUB

We are grateful for their generous Community Energy Fund grant to pay for a feasibility study, for their patient help with our uninformed questions, and for providing forums to meet and learn from energy experts and other community groups.

LOW CARBON HUB

Low Carbon Hub are showing us what can be done and are fighting for what still needs to be done. They show what can be done to “meet our energy needs in a way that is good for people and the planet” and fighting for what still needs to be done. Heat Clanfield is now a member organisation, benefiting from their advice and generous grants.
